“Last Thursday, the Senate Appropriations Committee passed the Fy14 Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations bill, S. 1284, by a party line vote. The bill provides a $3.52 billion (5.4%) increase for discretionary education spending compared to FY13. The bill authorizes $1.123 billion for Perkins State Grants, which restores funding to pre-sequestration levels. In addition, the bill authorizes the President’s proposed dual enrollment program. More information on this proposed program can be found here and here.
The House has not yet acted on its Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations bill, however the 302(b) allocations assigned to the Committee indicate that authorization levels approved by the House will be lower than what was approved in the Senate.”
